If Knowledge is Power then Curiosity is Our Super Power
Curiosity: The Superpower That Turns Knowledge Into Wisdom
We’ve all heard the saying, “Knowledge is power.” While true, it’s not the whole story.
Academia was a constant struggle for me growing up. As someone who is neurodiverse and dyslexic, the traditional approach to learning, memorising and regurgitating knowledge from books felt unnatural.
My brain simply didn’t work that way. But curiosity became my saving grace. It allowed me to step outside the rigid frameworks of schooling and explore knowledge in a way that worked for me.
Knowledge is what we know, but it doesn’t automatically make us wise or impactful. Wisdom, on the other hand, is something deeper. It’s not just about knowing it’s about being. Wisdom is embodied knowledge. And the bridge between the two? Curiosity.
Let’s unpack this idea:
Knowledge: What We Know
Knowledge is straightforward. It’s the information we collect facts, skills, and lessons we’ve learned along the way. In today’s world, knowledge is abundant. It’s in books, online courses, podcasts, and our daily experiences. But knowledge alone doesn’t create change.
You’ve probably encountered someone who is knowledgeable but rigid, unable to apply what they know to life’s complexities. Knowledge, while important, can sit dormant without curiosity to activate it.
Curiosity: The Superpower
Curiosity is what takes knowledge from static to dynamic. It’s the spark that asks, “What can I do with this?” or “What if I tried another way?”
Curiosity is playful. It’s open. It doesn’t cling to answers but seeks questions. It’s not afraid of mistakes, and it doesn’t demand certainty. This mindset unlocks the potential of what we know, turning it into practical insights.
Without curiosity, knowledge can trap us in the “right” way of thinking. With it, we become explorers.
Wisdom: Who We Are
Wisdom goes beyond knowledge and curiosity. It’s the embodiment of what we know. Wisdom is lived. It’s intuitive. It’s knowing when to act and when to pause. It’s the ability to hold multiple perspectives and make decisions that align with our deeper values.
Wisdom isn’t just about collecting knowledge or even questioning it. It’s about integrating it into how we show up in the world. It’s who we are when knowledge flows freely and curiosity keeps us open to growth.
How Curiosity Activates Wisdom
Here’s where curiosity shines. When we approach knowledge with curiosity, we stop seeing it as an end point. Instead, we start experimenting, reflecting, and learning from our experiences.
Curiosity helps us challenge assumptions. It asks, “Is this true for me?”
It invites us to adapt. It wonders, “How can I apply this knowledge in new situations?”
It makes space for reflection. It nudges us to pause and ask, “What am I learning from this moment?”
When we embody curiosity, knowledge becomes a tool for growth, not just a trophy to display. It keeps us humble, adaptable, and open qualities essential for true wisdom.
Wisdom Is Already Within You
Here’s the twist: Wisdom isn’t something you need to find. It’s already within you. It’s your natural state when you align knowledge, curiosity, and presence.
When you live curiously, you access wisdom by default. You move through life with a sense of flow, knowing that you don’t need all the answers you just need to stay open to the questions.
Best Selling Book
I am officially a best selling author!
A huge thank you to everyone that supported me with buying the book on the day of the release which helped it get the "best seller."
For my chapter in this book I talk about my personal story from having an Existential crisis in the corporate world to going on my first retreat in 1999. And how this leads to "innerstanding" our 5 Intelligences and how we can use them to thrive in our lives,
